Robots work out which shelves to replenish in store

A new robot called Tally has been introduced who’s job it is to run up and down a store’s aisles counting and checking product availability. The robot, which weights 30lb is reported to perform up to 12 hours on a single charge and with an accuracy of 96%. The data collected by Tally can be used to track trends in sales and product placement as well as working out which shelves need replenishing.

“When it comes to the retail industry, shopper experience is everything. If a product is unavailable at the time the shopper wants to buy it, the retailer has missed an opportunity and disappointed their customer,” according to Brad Bogolea, CEO and Co-founder of Simbe Robotics – the inventors of Tally. “Tally helps retailers address these challenges by providing more precise and timely analysis of the state of in-store merchandise and freeing up staff to focus on customer service.”
