Adidas have worked in partnership with B.A.A to launch Boston Marathon RunBase which is a new 2,000 square-foot store positioned at the final mile mark of the Boston Marathon course. Upon walking in store, shoppers will see a 10 foot 3D topographic animated race map with space around it showing race memorabilia. In this experience store, customers can also have a shower without an obligation to purchase. Interactive screens feature key moments in the history of the race and access to a list of race results which includes every participant who has competed in the Marathon. Finally there is a treadmill that has all the visuals and terrain of the course which enables customers to run all 26.2 simulated miles in the store on the treadmill. Adidas are expecting to rollout this format across other US cities initially. “RunBase is a one-of-a-kind resource for runners based in and traveling to Boston,” said Mikal Peveto, Global Director of Running Innovation at Adidas. “Adidas is taking its partnership with the Boston Athletic Association to the next level with the help of Marathon Sports to let runners experience the best of our brand and the spirit of the greatest race year-round.”
