Auchan launches autonomous store with Trigo

Auchan retail launch of its first fully autonomous stores, Auchan GO, marking a significant step in cashier-free, frictionless shopping. Located in Poland and Romania, the stores operates 24/7 and uses Trigo’s AI-powered technology, which combines vision cameras and on-shelf sensors to track shopper interactions in real time. With automated checkout and no need for cash registers, customers enjoy a seamless experience, while the store ensures full GDPR compliance without biometric data collection.

This innovative retail concept is part of Auchan’s strategy to merge digital convenience with physical stores, aiming to expand this model across Poland with 40 more outlets planned in the coming years.

Auchan GO’s first fully autonomous store showcases cutting-edge retail technology by Trigo, a leader in computer vision and AI-driven retail solutions. With this system, the store continuously monitors product availability and generates real-time digital shopping baskets. Customers simply swipe their payment card and register their phone number at the entrance, shop without worrying about checkout lines, and are automatically charged when they leave.

What sets Auchan GO apart is its focus on both convenience and product variety. Despite being a compact 75 sqm space, it offers over 1,000 products, including fresh produce, drinks, snacks, and Auchan’s private label goods. The store’s 40% private label product range, like Pewni Dobrego, aligns with Auchan’s commitment to offering high-quality, affordable items.

Beyond improving customer experience, this concept acts as a “laboratory” for Auchan to refine its frictionless shopping model. By merging AI with privacy-by-design, Auchan ensures data security while revolutionizing brick-and-mortar retail. This store could potentially reshape how physical retail operates, blending digital ease with physical presence.
