In this video, SAP demonstrate how the job of a warehouse picker could look when the Glass technology matures a little more. We predict that wearables will replace the slightly ageing handheld terminals (HHTs) which are in use across the majority of warehouses across the world.
We also predict that Google Glass is going to be a technology worn more by the retailer than by the customer. Likely applications will include pick, pack and despatch as well as workforce management for store associates. And for the high-end retailers a personalised concierge service, such as that demonstrated by Virgin Atlantic in the Google Glass Upper Class trial, will become commonplace. We know that for version 1 of Google Glass, the technology isn’t quite ready yet, however as battery life improves and the technology matures, it is almost certain that this will be in widespread use across retail.
