Sam’s Club rolls out AI-powered inventory-scanning robots to 600 stores

Sam’s Club has completed the chainwide rollout of inventory-scanning robots in nearly 600 stores. These robots, powered by Brain Corp’s AI-driven BrainOS, are mounted on Tennant Co.’s floor scrubbers, allowing them to scan shelves for stock levels, pricing accuracy, and planogram compliance while simultaneously cleaning the store. This automation enhances efficiency, reduces labor demands, and provides real-time inventory insights.

The robots autonomously navigate aisles, capturing data that helps improve restocking speed and pricing consistency. Sam’s Club first began testing this technology in 2020, gradually expanding deployment as automation became a priority for parent company Walmart. The move aligns with broader industry trends where AI and robotics are transforming retail operations, particularly in inventory management.

This expansion strengthens Sam’s Club’s competitive edge by improving operational efficiency and ensuring shelves are accurately stocked. With AI-driven automation becoming more prevalent, retailers like Sam’s Club are investing in technologies that streamline in-store processes, reduce shrink, and enhance the shopping experience.
