Pizza delivery robots at Domino’s

Domino’s – the global pizza delivery chain have introduced a robot which delivers pizzas from the customer’s local branch to their home. The robot is currently in proof of concept in Australia and New Zealand.

“It seems pretty crazy to us that one and a half – two tonne vehicles deliver a few hundred grams of pizza in the neighbourhood. It pulls a lot of cost out of the business. Obviously labour is the number one cost; the whole management of our delivery fleet is expensive”, Domino’s Group CEO and Managing Director Don Meij said. The first generation robot is battery powered and can travel around 12 miles between charges.
