Barclaycard is trialling it’s bPay contactless payment wristbands in London. Using the same contactless technology that is in payment cards, Barclaycard are now trialling whether there is an appetite for consumers to wear their wallet – perhaps in preparation for the digital watch revolution.
Previously trialled at a London’s Hyde Park music festival in 2012, the scheme works like to a top up card such as Oyster in that the customer has to pre-pay to top up the wristband before using it. Like with contactless payment cards, the purchase limit is £20 for a single item. If the trial proves successful, Barclaycard will roll out the wristbands nationwide.
