McDonalds broadcast offers via beacons in store

McDonalds fast food restaurants in Georgia, US have been trialling delivering coupon offers, alerts, employment opportunities and customer surveys via beacons placed in the restaurant.

The 4 week trial showed around 18,000 offer redemptions in 17 restaurants for the promoted items featured. As a result it is claimed that sales increased by up to 8%.

The technology behind the beacons is from Piper.
