Gamestop, the video retailer store are trialling a beacon based technology that allows customers to pull more information about a product from the shelf. If the trial, which began last year, is successful then Gamestop plan to roll this out to 60 more stores by the end of 2015. “Our intention is to provide consumers with new ways to navigate the store, find content and get access to interactive experiences in the store,” says Jeff Donaldson, GameStop chief information officer and senior vice president of GTI. “We see beacons as a … core component of the instrumentation we have to deliver to the store environment.”
