How it Works
Personalization engines are used to tailor the customer's journey to show the most relevant content to the customer based on their shopping mission and shopper profile. The types of personalization are: showing product recommendations, showing relevant content such as banners & articles and displaying a tailored sort order in a category listing page or search results page. The engines usually collect shopper profile information as the shopper browses i.e. what products and categories they are browsing and products are they adding to bag and/or purchasing. The engine crunches the data and looks for patterns, for instance when people buy product x they also buy product y or customers who usually browse category x are normally interested in category y. The insight is then applied to real shopper missions to determine what should be displayed.
