Google streetview inside a Tesco store
The world’s largest search company, Google, has invested heavily in the retail space in recent years. Most of that effort until very recently has been focussed on the more traditional areas of e-commerce, taking revenue from things like click-through to retailer’s product pages.
Now, the inside of UK based retailer Tesco’s Extra store in Watford has recently been captured on Google’s StreetView. Google, who have now mapped a majority of the roads in the UK are now moving on to parts of the world which aren’t accessible by car. They have recently started capturing places like public communal areas such as parks and playgrounds and have now started to focus in on retail. This will aid the shopper to navigate stores and shopping malls easily and hone in on the products and departments where they wish to browse and purchase.
